EGA signs agreements at ADIPEC to support the development of local manufacturing capacity and further localise supply chain

United Arab Emirates, 22 November, 2024: Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, has signed two agreements with local manufacturers, Santoo Sealing and Rolon Seals, to support the expansion of their newly established facilities in the UAE in line with Make it in the Emirates.

The agreements were signed in the presence of His Excellency Omar Ahmed Suwaina Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology during Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference.

EGA has worked with both Santoo Sealing and Rolon Seals to establish local manufacturing facilities in Abu Dhabi to meet EGA’s demand for mechanical materials and spare parts.

EGA is committed to further localise the procurement of materials is in line with Operation 300bn, the UAE’s strategy to more than double the size of its industrial sector by 2031.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, said: “EGA’s bold aspiration is to double our absolute contribution to the UAE economy by 2040, and local procurement is part of that. We prioritise local suppliers whenever they are commercially competitive, and we continue to work with our international suppliers to establish facilities in the UAE.”

In 2023, EGA spent over $2.3 billion on goods and services procured locally in the UAE, which was 42 per cent of EGA’s total procurement spend.

EGA is the heart of the aluminium sector in the UAE, which accounts for around 1.3 per cent of GDP and supports over 57 thousand jobs. EGA's direct, indirect, and induced economic contribution totalled over $6.5 billion last year.
