EGA inaugurates football pitch in Al Samha, championing health and wellbeing of neighbouring community

United Arab Emirates, 21 October 2022: Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, officially inaugurated a new community football pitch in Al Samha West encouraging physical activity and supporting health in the community near EGA’s Al Taweelah site. The new facility, constructed in partnership with Abu Dhabi Municipality, is in line with EGA’s commitment to supporting neighbouring communities.

To celebrate the occasion, a friendly football match took place between an EGA team and local players.

The football pitch inauguration was attended by EGA leaders and comes just a month before the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup 2022, which is set to take place for the first time in the Middle East. Football is one of the most popular sports in the UAE and the UAE Football Association is an active member of the Federation.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA said: “At EGA, we strive to be a good neighbour and corporate citizen. We hope this new football pitch further supports the quality of life in Al Samha. We also focus on ensuring our other voluntary contributions to society, such as in supporting science, technology engineering and mathematics education particularly, consider the needs of neighbouring communities.”

EGA has previously developed two parks in Al Samha, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Municipality.

EGA’s other corporate social responsibility programmes including Engineer the Future, which supports STEM education in high schools, and the Ambassador programme which encourages university students to pursue careers in industry. EGA is also developing programmes in aluminium recycling and to support entrepreneurship, as well as advocating for gender diversity in the workplace.

EGA also operates a hotline for members of neighbouring communities to contact the company with any comments or concerns.
