EGA employees take part in community food drive during holy month of Ramadan

United Arab Emirates: Employees of Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, today donated food to give to low income people in the country as part of the Saahem community initiative during the holy month of Ramadan.

Licenced by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities and supervised by the Emirates Red Crescent, the initiative involved EGA employees collecting non-perishable food items at the company’s sites in Al Taweelah and Jebel Ali and distributing them to those in need.

EGA has encouraged a culture of volunteerism since its formation. The number of hours employees volunteer has increased eightfold since the merger of DUBAL and EMAL to form EGA in 2014.. Activities range from setting up reading zones in schools to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise money for charity.

In 2017, employees recorded close to 2,800 volunteer hours.
